Washington defeats Berry, 44-7

In St. Louis, Zach Lonneman rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown and Eric Daginella threw for 127 yards and a touchdown to lead Washington University (3-2) to victory over Berry College (1-4) by a 44-7 margin before a crowd of 786 at Francis Field.

After a scoreless first quarter, Washington’s offense notched a pair of rushing touchdowns in the second quarter while the Bears’ defense contributed a safety to give the Bears a 16-0 halftime lead. In all, Washington ran for a season-high 276 yards on the afternoon as the Bears dominated the time of possession battle by a 2-1 margin.

Down 44-0, Berry’s Dale Jackson, making his first start of the season, connected with Will Chomskis for a 37-yard touchdown with 5:14 remaining in the fourth quarter to put the Vikings on the board. Jackson completed nine of 14 passes for 113 yards and the touchdown while Jonathan Lewis led Berry’s ground game with 43 rushing yards on 12 carries.
