The Travel Trolley names Cartersville small town worth exploring

The Travel Trolley recently named Cartersville a small Georgia town worth exploring.

The travel site also named Folkston, Dahlonega, Greensboro and Elberton as places in Georgia to explore as part of its article titled “Stepping away from Atlanta: Five small Georgia towns to explore.”

“For many, this exurb situated about 40 miles north of Atlanta is just an exit off the interstate,” the article noted. “But, this city of about 20,000 is steeped in history and offers a surprising number of attractions, and given its proximity to Interstate 75, it’s an easy drive from Atlanta.”

The Atlanta-based website was launched in June 2009 and focuses on destinations not featured in mainstream travel outlets. While the site features travel news, it isn’t the typical travel news website and instead focuses on a more whimsical approach to covering travel.

The site has a particular affinity for historic sites and random roadside oddities, particularly items classified as the “world’s largest.”
