This, you could actually argue, is the most important, one of the more important stops on the Western & Atlantic. It was — put it this way, it was a very important destination on the Western & Atlantic Railroad.

Once upon a time, this town was described as being very wicked. Hard to believe, right? But by the 1850s, it was said the “morals were improving.” I don’t know what that means exactly, but it was getting better, I guess.

Before the railroad, this was actually a stagecoach [stop]. It was a pretty important transportation hub. And it was particularly important for the railroad because there were actually two railroads in town once upon a time.
