Participate in Night Without a Bed on June 26

Family Promise of North Fulton/DeKalb will participate in Night Without a Bed, a national campaign to raise awareness of family homelessness in the community.

Night Without A Bed challenges supporters, followers and volunteers to spend a night without the comfort of their bed — such as a car, a tent or their living room floor. Night Without A Bed will be held on June 26.

An estimated one in 30 children in the United States experience homelessness annually. On any given night, more than 60,000 families nationwide are experiencing homelessness.

“Families across the country experience homelessness every day,” said Andrea Brantley, executive director of Family Promise of North Fulton/DeKalb. “It’s not limited to a particular part of town; sadly, it can be found in every community, including North Fulton and DeKalb counties.

“It’s easy to forget the realities faced by families experiencing homelessness,” Brantley added. “The pandemic has been challenging to everyone, and it has exacerbated the already devastating homelessness crisis. We hope Night Without a Bed will help draw attention to the reality these families face.”

Participants are encouraged to share their experiences on social media using the hashtag #NightWithoutABed.

Proceeds from Night Without a Bed will help Family Promise of North Fulton/DeKalb match a grant to expand its Family Ever After Program. The aftercare program helps Family Promise alumni for six months following their graduation.

The national Family Promise will match the first $5,000 Family Promise of North Fulton/DeKalb raises.
