Remarks to the Vinings Rotary, August 12, 2020

So I like to do this little presentation. It’s got a two-part piece to it.

I want to give a little historical overview about the railroad … then I’ve got some Vinings anecdotes specific to the railroad that I think are a lot of fun and are really interesting.

I don’t know how familiar everyone is, but the Western and Atlantic Railroad is really pretty unique in that the state of Georgia built the railroad and actually still owns it to this day. And it runs from Atlanta to Chattanooga so effectively the state of Georgia owns a strip of land … from Atlanta … up I-75 all the way up the railroad to Chattanooga, Tennessee.
