The Goal

  • Elevate the visibility and profile of credit unions among current and prospective members in the Empire State of the South

The Approach

  • Developed a consumer survey of members in the state; polled members on their spending attitudes, perceptions of the economy and future plans
  • Positioned spokespeople and executives as financial experts and developed bylines as appropriate to advocate for legislation/action
  • Launched a consumer-facing blog as a repository of news and information

The Results

As a result of this approach, the state’s credit unions saw unprecedented membership growth:

  • 2.3 percent in year three
  • 3.3 percent in year two
  • 2.3 percent in year one
